First edition, second state without "A" on copyright page. 1937 on both title and cp with Scribner colophon on cp. Book is in very good condition. Black cloth boards. Gilt lettering on spine and facsimile Hemingway sig on front board, green title block on spine, Nice collector's copy lacking dust jacket. Same format in all respects as the first printing just lacks "A" all else is the same including 1937 on both title and cp pages along with the Scribner seal. Free of former owner writing or bookplates. Some light surface spotting on edges of boards and a smoothed out crease mark upper right side of front blank endpaper. Lacks DJ. An authentic envelope post marked, Dec 10th 1938 and addressed to: Mrs. Ernest Hemingway Whitehead Street Key West has been laid in the book. Looks it was a bill as the return address is: Key West Florist 616 Duval Street Phone 528 Key West, Florida. Envelope is now empty. This is not a copy or reproduction. The envelope is stain with several tiny holes in the page. The postage was 2 cents. Envelope has normal tears and age tone.
