Jung, Carl Gustav (Karsh) CARL JUNG PORTRAIT 1959 Ephemera Very Good+ with no dust jacket Iconic portrait of a meditative, Carl Jung with it's interesting implications. This stunning reproduction originated in book form and was designed to be removed for framing should framing be desired. This magnificent portrait was produced by sheet-fed gravure, a printing process not presently used in North America for this type of work. The world-renowned printing house of Enschede in Haarlem, Holland, which had been turning out fine printing for more than two hundred fifty years at the time of publication, circa 1959, was entrusted with the making and reproduction of the gravure cylinders. A long program of experimentation was necessary before results were achieved which the author and the publishers considered to be faithful reproductions of the originals. The problem of securing perfect facsimiles was heightened by the extraordinary range of tones in Karsh's portraits, from deep velvet-like blacks to the delicate modeling of the light flesh-tones. The results you see in the portrait are as close to the quality of Karsh's original mat-finish printings as had ever been attained by any printing method. If this portrait is framed, it is recommended that it be covered by glass in order to avoid damage to the surface when dusting or handling. This black and white portrait measures 9 1/2 x 12". Also included is a page of equal size with a short Jung bio and some interesting blurbs of the photographer's exchange with his subject. Note, verso of the Jung portrait has non related blurbs about another subject and verso of Jung's blurbs/bio has picture of non related subject. Both items are in very good+ condition with only sight signs use. ; 8vo Price:
